Some compromise on materinity leave is clearly necessary.

If the woman needs or wants to work, and many do, and also wants
to have children, it is absurd to kick them off their jobs or
to not hire them at all, just because they are pregnant, especially if
they are the best man suited for the job.

Maybe it is time to reconsider working at home as a valid
American occupation.

Make it safe. And make it legal and make it pay as well
as other work.

Then the mother does not have to leave her child in day care,
and she can continue to work all the way through the pregnancy and
after.

This sort of solution would greatly improve the GNP and the
care for our children at the same time.

If it can be done right.

The 'mustn't work at home' mentality was a very bad thing
for America.

Maybe, women can speak loudly enough on this matter and
help us work our way out of it.

And while they are at it, they can speak loudly about
getting their asses registered.

Of course we gotta be careful. Women will start WANTING
to have children just to get out of armed forces work.

Then we will have a lot of PEACE babies, rather than WAR babies.
